Boat Insurance - Coverage From Stem To Stern

Your boat, while probably one of your most treasured possessions, can also be your most vulnerable - at risk to storms, strong winds, theft, and accidents. That’s why our boat coverage will provide shelter to your boat and protection for you and your passengers. We work with you to tailor your coverages and even offer you special discounts and deductible savings, depending on which deductible you choose. Our goal is to ensure that you, your passengers and your boat receive the customized protection and services you need.

What If Someone Gets Hurt On My Boat? Liability insurance protects you and members of your household if you or they were legally liable for injuries to other people either on or off your boat, or if you or they accidentally caused damage to anyone else’s property. It would also pay the costs to defend you in lawsuits brought against you.

What Do Limits Of Liability Mean? These limits specify the most that will be paid for the entire accident. Medical Payments covers a person who is injured on your boat.

Additional Benefits available:
- Repair cost for partial losses to your boat.
- Protection for your boat, boating equipment, and
accessories.
- Emergency Service ($250 limit. Higher limits
available.) coverage for towing and labor on land or
water, including delivery of fuel, oil, or a battery if
your boat breaks down.

Optional Personal Effects coverage available for:
Your clothing, Portable radios, Fishing equipment, Water skis and more. No matter what course you chart, rest assured knowing you’re prepared for rough waters and that your boat itself is protected.

Ways To Cut Costs On Your Boat Insurance - Most of our companies recognize the value of boating safety courses, protective devices, Courtesy Marine Examination (CMEs), and more with many discounts (subject to individual qualification and state availability) on certain coverages.

Contact Brownell Insurance Center for a list of these available discounts.

What Homeowners Policies Do and Don’t Cover

Companies may exclude coverage for certain losses. For example, if you live on the Gulf Coast, you might receive an endorsement that excludes coverage for wind and hail damage. In areas with a history of hail storms, some companies provide only actual cash value coverage for roofs instead of full replacement cost. Actual cash value pays for damage minus depreciation on the roof, depending on its age and condition.

Most Policies Cover Losses Caused by:

1. Fire and Lightning
2. Aircraft and Vehicles
3. Vandalism and Malicious Mischief
4. Theft
5. Explosion
6. Riot and Civil Commotion
7. Smoke
8. Windstorm, Hurricane and Hail
9. Sudden and Accidental Water Damage

Most Policies Do Not Cover Losses Caused by:

1. Flooding
2. Earthquakes
3. Termites, Insects, Rats or Mice
4. Freezing Pipes while your house is unoccupied (unless you turned off the water or heated the building)
5. Wind of Hail damage to Trees and Shrubs
6. Losses if you house is vacant for 60 days or more
7. Wear and Tear or Maintenance
8. Water Damage resulting from continuous and
repeated Seepage.

Most policies will not cover mold remediation beyond that necessary to repair or replace property damaged by a water loss otherwise covered by the policy. The HO-3 policy offers no coverage for mold remediation or for damage caused by water leaks, although some companies may offer coverage for sudden and accidental water leaks as an endorsement to the base HO-3 policy. Some of the other approved policy forms also cover sudden and accidental water leaks, while others may not. Read your policy or ask Brownell Insurance Center, Inc. whether your policy covers water leaks and mold remediation.
