Frequently asked questions about health insurance:
What are the age requirements?
Personal Health Insurance is available for new applicants age 65 and under.
You and all persons included in your application must be age 65 or under on
the date you apply. Over age 65 applicants are eligible for Medicare. We do
have Medicare Supplements available.
What information will I need before I start?
You should have the following information handy:
• Birth date of your spouse and dependent children
• Name and dosage of all prescription drugs for
everyone included.
• Your family physician’s name and address.
• Your checking account information or credit card
number and expiration date. We accept both Visa
and MasterCard and take payments monthly
electronically.
Who can be included under my plan?
Your spouse and your dependent children.
• Spouse includes common law spouse.
• Children include natural or legally adopted
children, or a child for whom you are a legal
guardian.
• Children can be included up to and including age
19, and from age 20 to 24 if they are full-time
students receiving your support.
What if I don’t have personal, group or Cobra health
care coverage now?
Our health insurance companies provide insurance after any of these
situations. If there is no prior insurance any pre-existing conditions would
not be covered immediately. Check with our office and we can give you the
full details.

How does the hospital coverage work if I’m pregnant at
the time of application?
Most companies will not cover current pregnancy but check with us. There is
a rider that can be added to your policy for an extra premium if you are not
pregnant.
Why do you require my personal medical information?
The price you pay for Personal Health Insurance is determined by:
• Your age (and the ages of the family members
you’ve included).
• Your place of residence.
• The plan you choose.
• Your family’s medical history.
All this information helps us to give you a fair price for your coverage.
Can I choose a different plan for different members of my family?
Yes, when you choose a plan, each family member can be covered by a
different plan depending on their health history. You pay less as a family
(price per person) than you would as individuals. But, if you’d like to
choose different coverage for the adults, you can apply for two different
plans as individuals. You won’t get a discounted family price. If you have
children, they would be included on one of the adult’s plans. |
