Important Homeowners Rider! We can’t stress enough that you call Brownell Insurance Center if you have a sump pump. You will have limited coverage if this rider is not added to your policy. If you add this rider you will get coverage similar to the following policy language: Water damage - Sewers, Drains and Sump Pumps a. “We” pay for direct physical loss to covered property caused by: 1) water or sewage that backs up through sewers or drains; or 2) water that enters into and overflows from within a sump pump, sump pump well, or other type of system designed to remove subsurface water that is drained from the foundation area. However, “we” do not pay for loss that results from the negligence of an “insured” or loss to a sump pump or other type of system or related equipment caused by mechanical breakdown. b. The most “we” pay is $2,500 per occurrence. This coverage does not increase the “limits” shown for the property covered. “We” pay only that part of the loss that exceeds $250, however, this deductible does not apply to loss covered under Coverage D. No other deductible applies to this coverage. c. Under Exclusions that apply to Property coverages, the references to: 1) water or sewage which backs up through sewers or drains or water which overflows from within a sump under Water Damage; and 2) mechanical breakdown under Wear and Tear; do not apply to this coverage. |
