You Need More Auto Insurance

Before you read this: Pull out your auto insurance policy. We are sure that most of you have limits of liability that are not more than $100,000 per person limit with a maximum for the accident of $300,000 per accident and medical payments of $5000 per person. Most people sadly believe they are “fully covered” with limits like this. “YOU MAY NOT BE!!!”

We’ve helped with claims where there are severe injuries and huge medical bills. Many of these accidents were caused by negligent, careless drivers who many times are driving recklessly with little or no auto insurance! When this happens, it is your insurance that will pay your medical bills. This also applies to letting your children ride in another kid’s car. You should consider:

• Raising your auto liability and un/underinsured motorist coverage limits to $250,000/$500,000.
• Raising your Medical Expense insurance to at least $10,000 per person.
• Purchasing a $1,000,000 “umbrella” with uninsured motorist coverage.

This is important because you can get sued in the State of NH fairly easily. It is not uncommon to have houses attached or paychecks garnished to pay the amounts awarded above your current limits. Raising your limits also helps to protect your assets as well. Call us if you have questions. The cost is relatively low to raise your limits. It usually can be covered by raising your deductibles on your comprehensive and/or your collision coverages. $1 Million Umbrella policies usually cost about $250 to $500 per year.
